The state of New Jersey has some of the best fishing grounds in the country. After all, it’s surrounded by over 130 miles of Atlantic coastline. With that said, if you’re planning a fun fishing trip, New Jersey is where you should go. However, before you make the trip, there are certain things that you need to take into account. For instance, you can’t just drive up there and start fishing anywhere you want because there are fishing laws and regulations that you need to follow. With that said, below are some tips you should always remember when you go for fishing trips at the New Jersey shore.

Fishing Adventure at the New Jersey Shore

1) Contact a company that offer fishing trips along the coast. There are dozens of establishments in the region that cater to people who want to go for a fun fishing adventure. A lot of these companies maintain websites or blogs so contacting them in advance shouldn’t be a problem. One benefit of hooking up with a fishing company is that they already know the laws and regulations in the area. This means they know where you should go fishing. You might even get a fisherman guide to assist you along the trip.

2) If you are going on your own, make sure that you have all the necessary equipment. If you are an experienced fisherman, you should already know what to bring. However, if you want to travel light, there are always shops along the coast where you can purchase any type of fishing equipment you want. But if you prefer using your own tackle and lures, then by all means you should take them along with you.

3) Be aware of the state’s fishing seasons. In some areas along the New Jersey shore, fishing is very seasonal, especially for migratory fish. You might consider contacting the local office of the Fisheries Bureau for more information. Figure these out ahead of time before you head out to avoid a lousy fishing trip. It’s best that you talk to the local people about the best places and times to catch fish in their area.

4) Always take safety into consideration. This is especially important if you plan on taking a boat away from the shore. The boating and fishing companies along the coast usually have someone to operate the boat for you while you fish but there are some who don’t. If you are getting a boat which you are going to operate on your own, make sure that you give it a test run first. And of course, see to it that there’s a way to communicate with the people inland while you are out there fishing.

5) Always listen to the captain and crew. This is if you are joining a large fishing party. When they say you can’t fish at a certain spot or you are not allowed to do something, hear them out and follow their advice. They know the area and they are only looking out for you.

These tips are not that difficult to follow. So keep them in mind whenever you go for fishing trips at the New Jersey shore.
